Teacher Resume Example and Writing Guide

A teacher’s resume starts with the subject and grade level: “Intermediate-school mathematics teacher” says more than “teacher”. Then list the teachers’ professional licence if you hold one, followed by your experience in lesson planning, assessment and classroom management and any programmes you took part in, such as activities or remedial plans. Private and international schools may ask for an English resume, so prepare both versions.

What to write

What goes first on the resume?

  1. Subject and grade level in your summary and title, and your years of teaching if accurate.
  2. The teachers’ professional licence, its level and expiry date, if you hold one.
  3. Classroom evidence: lesson planning, continuous assessment, remedial plans, activities and competitions.

Starting your career?

As a new graduate, present your teaching practicum: the school, grade, subject and the lessons you delivered under supervision.

English language teacher
List the grades you taught, speaking activities, and a proficiency or teaching certificate such as CELTA or TESOL if you have one.
Mathematics teacher
Explain how you teach abstract ideas with concrete examples, diagnostic tests and remedial plans for students who struggle.

Explain your work, not generic qualities

Two lines: your field, the nature of your work and your core tools.

Middle-school mathematics teacher planning varied lessons and classroom activities, with ongoing assessment and targeted learning support.

Experience a reader can understand

The task and what you did, with a result only when you can prove it.

Instead of a generic description

Outstanding teacher who loves teaching.

A more specific example

Prepared group activities to explain fractions through everyday situations.

Skills backed by evidence

Possible examples, not requirements; choose what you have actually practised.

  • Lesson planning
  • Classroom management
  • Student assessment
  • Remedial planning
  • Active learning
  • Madrasati platform

How do you show it?

Instead of “classroom management” on its own, describe what you did: clear class rules, roles in group work, and following up behaviour with the student counsellor.

Certificates, licences and links

Record the teachers’ professional licence from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission with its level and expiry date. Add completed teaching courses, and an English proficiency or teaching certificate if you teach English.

FAQs

What should a Teacher resume emphasize?

Name the subject and age group, with examples of lesson planning, assessment and activities. Subject and grade level in your summary and title, and your years of teaching if accurate.

What should I put on a teacher resume with no experience?

Your degree and teaching qualification, your practicum in detail (school, grade, subject), the professional licence if you have passed it, and any teaching volunteering or completed education courses.

Should I list the teachers’ professional licence on my resume?

Yes, under certificates with its level and expiry date, since many schools ask for it. If you have not passed it yet, leave it out, or say you are registered for the test if that is true.
